Hello all... Please be easy on me, first time poster. I just purchased a decommissioned FLHTP Electra glide Standard Police bike. Everything is as expected except the function of the Aux lights. They are activated by a switch on the right side of the handlebar not the button in the dash. That I get... What I can't figure out is if I leave them on when turning off the bike, the aux lights stay on and the bike is in some sort of an accessory mode. The only way to completely shutdown the bike is to turn the Aux lights off first, then you can rotate the lock switch to off and everything goes off. You have to do this every time you turn off the bike. it's a PITA.
I imagine this is some function for police and what use to be the red and blue lights in the front. My question is can this function be turned off or programmed off so i can just leave the aux lights on all the time and they go on and off when I turn on and off the bike?
Starting in 2014 the police bikes have a feature for the emergency lights that will keep them powered for either 15 or 30 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off.

Thanks for the response!. I figured it was something like that. Trying to figure out if that can be disabled, so they don't stay on.
If your looking to correct the light operation it can be changed to the dash switch, its in the BCM programming. I did this for a buddy who had the same issue and a dealership could not figure out. Not sure where you are other than the East, I am in PA.
It's just an issue of remembering to turn off the lights. The green indicator lets you know the lights are still on the ign switch has to be turned on to turn off the lights. Most of the time as I'm approaching my stopping point I'll turn off the lights.

Hey Joe! Unfortunately I'm too far away from you, thank you so much for offering.
So it sounds like it's a BCM setting which means I need to bring it to a HD dealer and have them find this correct? Can I leave the switch as a button by the throttle and just do the BCM change such that the lights go off with the bike?? Or does it need to be moved to Dash switch button as well as the BCM change? Also, any clues where to tell the Tech too look in the BCM settings?
@mic-dundee So I looked through the software, I am using Diag4Bike which will be different than the DIgiTech that the dealership uses, but under the BCM customization there is a selection for how the Aux lights are operated .. the selections are Factory Dash Switch, P& A Dash Switch, Factory Hand Control Switch, and lastly P&A Hand Control Switch. I know on my buddies bike we installed the Dash Switch and set his to Factory Dash Switch which also illuminated the AUX light in the tach when they are on....Are the Aux lights the only thing that stays on after the ignition is off?

Hey Joe, I really appreciate you looking into this. The aux lights are not the only thing that stay on. The way it works is if you leave the aux lights on and turn the bike off (both hand switch and lock switch) it puts the bike in some sort of accessory mode where it still has power going to the dash, rear lights and aux lights. I can tell the dash has power as the fuel and voltage gauge are both still on. So the only way to turn off is to turn off the aux lights first, before turning off the switches. Then when you turn the lock switch, the bike completely shuts down.
Sounds like I can't leave the hand control switch, I will need to switch to the dash switch and have them rewire the lights?
