Got my (Harley-Davidson) Stage Two (Torque Cam)! -- Impressions
Got my Stage Two Torque Cam upgrade done to my 2018 Road King (Standard) (M8 107). My Stage Two is completely stock, with a Screaming Eagle A/C and TBR Slip-ons for my Stage One, and an SE Tuner. Thanks to many on this forum for the many and varied opinions and information. I am aware that an aftermarket Stage Two tune and cam would have given me even more power. However, I have to say that I am very pleased with the results of this Stage Two, and I wanted my warranty to remain intact and I wanted the bike to remain under my dealer's care. My Road King is remarkably gutsier, especially on initial acceleration, and the engine just flies now! A lot of riders say that a Stage Two is the most bang you can get for the buck, and I see what they mean -- the bike just hauls *** on the freeways and has terrific acceleration. I can pass cars pretty effortlessly on the freeway now. It was really not that way before, for all that the bike had decent performance.
I also took the advice of many on this forum and had the 2021 (latest version) oil pump put in, just for luck. I've never had any sumping or transfer issues, but what the heck.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that this forum has been a great resource and I'm pleased with my decision.
very nice, congrats and glad you're satisfied..any new noise increase by chance or just as smooth and quiet as stock?

did you do the primary vent then as well?
do you have the fan assisted oil cooler? thinking the additional power and the tendency to use it more will increase engine temps so that would help cool the oil when at slow speeds and when stopped, especially with you being in SoCal climate and traffic

The sound is louder on acceleration -- a kind of growl/roar kind of sound. Yes, very much so. There is no mistaking that the engine is different after the Stage Two, that's for sure.
Did not do the primary vent and probably should have. Maybe in the future.
Yes, I have the fan-assisted oil cooler and glad to have it. We can have pretty ugly stop-and-go traffic here. The fan-assisted O/C keeps the engine cool in those scenarios. My old Twin Cam (Fat Boy) got scary-hot sometimes in those conditions. That has never happened with the Road King, despite some pretty challenging situations. The M8 runs cooler to begin with (much cooler) and the fan-assisted O/C is a big help.

right on, we had the FAOCs on our oil cooled 107s and am a believer...re: new noise I meant like undesirable engine noises that weren't there prior, ticking, etc..some have reported after cam upgrades..wasn't referring to engine growl and exhaust note, which should sound meaner

No, haven't heard anything like that. The engine runs a little differently on idle, but no out-of-place sounds. I'll be sure to make a point of listening for that on tomorrow's ride.

shouldn't be any issues when the installer knows what they are doing..think most of those reports were due to sloppy work most likely..go let er' rip and enjoy..the warranty lets you ride it like you stole it with impunity!!!
I’m happy with my HD Torque cam with the HD SE Street tuner as well. It pulls hard all the way to 5,000. I don’t go over 5,000. And it still gets good MPG, which is important when distance riding in a group,
Added the Stage II to my 2021 RGL (SE Air Kit, Fullsac MX Headpipe, and Khrome Werks 4.5" HP-Plus w/ dbKiller baffle). I'm getting some pinging when roll hard on it in 3/4/5th between 2500-3000 rpm. I'll be running a couple of recording sessions with the Pro Street Tuner to get that ironed out. Other than that, I'm happy with the lope the 447 cam gave the bike and the performance overall.
