Idle Adjustment
back to 850rpm when coming to a stop ! I complained to manager, mechanic, master machanic and service manager.... they all gave different reasons for this 'surge' when coming to stop.. but your the only one I've heard say it's a anti-stall safety setting....... and I don't like it... was wanting
to tune it out with a SEPST , but if you couldn't tune it out with the PV ... doubt I could tune it out either...
Yes stalling was one reason, second was Battery not charging enough third was low oil flow.
The surge that come with some when starting has never been truly addressed.
If you have PV you can go in and edit idle speed at will. But Can not use live Idle with an M8.

going to stage 2 , using SEPST (screamin eagle tuner) the 447 cam and se slipon pipes....... to keep the warranty
is that pic you posted from the SEPST ? or PV tuner ?
What do you mean by Live idle ?
As a old time biker, don't like that idle surge assist...... don't need it .....

It is your bike your cash and your dream.
SE tuner is not much of a tuner and way over priced. HD SE parts do not live up to better aftermarket.
If warranty is an issue for you. Something to think about.
Ride it enjoy it. get to know it well. And when that warranty is up and it is truly your bike. You will have a better idea where you want to go. And how you want to get there.
Also after 2 years and you do your good stage two. It is going to feel like a new ride all over again.
Live Idle
Pre M8 you can adjust idle on the fly with a PV. HD put a bug in with the M8 so that does not work. Nice feature but not a deal breaker.
Some like to drop the idle to 800-850 so they get the lop sound. When you do a good stage 2 you will get a better sound even with Idle set where it should be. It is the cam that makes the sound.
Here I go it will start some ****.
Contrary to what most thing 87 octane fire better in cold weather than 91 or 93 when it is cold out. Not talk cool I mean cold.
M8's had some issue with that. Adjust Idle speed based on temp helped. Study the chart a bit.
2017 M8 to star it in 10 Degree weather you had to do it just right.

I've heard about some not liking the SE stage 2 , compared to aftermarket.
I want to keep the warranty though still have 1.5 years left on it.
Maybe I'll put off the SE stage 2 I was going to do in a couple months......
So, what's the deal with harley not letting it's customers adjust the idle rpm ?
I run 91 octane on my stock 114.... seems good, coldest day I had bike out this year
is about 60 F ....... so, not going to ride below 50 F anyways ..

Could you rev it to 950 and hit the kill switch and see if it stays high?
Maybe I'll try again this week sometime and report back, would be nice
if idle speed adjustment could be so easy on the newer hds without
buying a $500 tuner.....
thanks for suggesting a potential fix
