overkill unless you are upgrading to performance stage kits because they have more surface area and are more porous allowing more air to pass through (and airborne contaminants)....you can get an idea by just looking at the HD SE online store parts under the details and instructions tab ..tells you what's required for which components..I think the only reason you might want to swap out the stock paper is because you like the more permanent reusable function of the oiled cotton fiber elements...but, you'll notice that the instructions state when using the hi flow filters an ECM recalibration is required using the SE Pro Street Tuner, so if you go that route you might as well put more free flowing mufflers on and complete the Stage 1..otherwise just leave it TF alone, as is, ride and enjoy
Ok thanks, ya i just want to ride the **** out of it this summer and not worry about tunes, screaming eagle crap. So besides the slip ons i threw on then, im not touching it!! It looks good anyway imo
I believe that those that worry about rain intrusion are worrying about a problem that doesn't exist. I've ridden at freeway speeds in driving rainstorms with my SE Wedge, which is open in front, without issue. I don't know if they even make a rain sock for that AC. My wife rode her 21 Heritage (OE Ventilator) in a driving rainstorm with no issues. I only put the rain sock on hers when it was parked in the rain. Rain isn't new to motorcycles.
I've had open a/c on all my bikes ie ventilators on 2 current bikes.I 've ridden in rain so hard I could hardly breathe, bike didn't miss a beat. I don't bother covering it when parked either. And I ride coast to coast like going to the grocery store so its outside in the weather for weeks Water just beads off element and what goes in goes right out bottom.
And done. The instructions made me giggle - "FOR THE EXPERIENCED RIDER ONLY." Ha!
I bet it states that "Death or Serious Injury may Occur" if not following the instructions..always thought it was weird they listed Death ahead of Injury..cuz if the former occurs first then..well, yeah
I had one/SE Breather and it got dirty on the top front and bottom, and Yes, mine bogged down in heavy rain, but now that I have Lowers, I wonder if that will help to eliminate the rain bog
Wish I could comment from experience. I'm waiting on parts for a SE Duel Exhaust and Chrome Ventilator Extreme Stage One and a TQ Stage Two to come in. I was told they would be here yesterday:-).

It's frustrating eh? I've been waiting for around 7 weeks for heated grips for my wifes new Heritage, and HD says 6 more weeks. Maybe. And now it's 78 here today so she won't need them for a while.

I agree. I rode my 2017 through many downpours and pretty much always forgot/dismissed/had bigger fish to fry and bike never missed a beat.
