Default M8 engine oil system??

Been about three years now since I bought my 2019 road king and one of the questions keeps coming up in my mind is that oil pan down underneath looks like a regular oil pan you’d see on a car although smaller….. I look at older Harleys and I see an oil tank just under the seat? Does the oil pan that I’m looking at work the same way? I wish I could find a video on how the oil system works on the new M8 engines.

Actually, I miss the oil system on my 1989. I used to do a 5 quart oil change. I'd change the oil in the tank, Put on my oil filter with a drain installed, watch the old flowing out until it was clean oil, essentially flushing all the old oil out. Then I'd refill the oil tank to the proper level.

I haven't looked, but the service manual used to have an oil flow diagram and written description.

It does have that, and OP is looking at the least complicated part of the whole system . lol Nothing to figure out. It's just an oil pan brother...
