Yes with the correct combination of parts. Take a look at Alpha Performance Facebook page for some examples.

Hmmm, I (Wife) have one of the heaviest bikes on the board. A 21 CVO Tri-Glide it has lack of power issues…… After long hours of research I have a pretty good direction where I wanted too go, I didn’t want too sacrifice bottom end to much but I really wanted too boost the midrange power by a lot. This is where we play at 90% of the time.

The way the Tri-Glide is geared it’s runs about 500rpm higher than my LRS does at about every mph. The wife is really really tired of needing a extra 100yds or more too build some speed and pass too get around traffic, when I can just zip around.

Me being the gear head, she tasked me with the details. I was leaning FM head pipe, 475 cam, and PV tuner from FM. I really want too take advantage of the larger valves in the 117 not just it’s larger displacement. But I also told her too call FM run the idea by them and answer there questions honestly as a double check too my line of thinking. I know her riding style, they don’t.

FM doesn’t get many calls from the Ladies, she described what she had and what she wanted as a final result as well as her crazy husbands thoughts.

Nice too know my idea wasn’t too far off the mark, the guy she spoke with really liked the overall plan for a big heavy bike, however he suggested the Wood 22XE cam as it would turn on a weee bit sooner vrs. the 475 and wouldn’t sacrifice anything in the middle, not many people are really cranking on a trike for top end anyway.

The plan was hatched, parts are paid for and I expect they should get here sometime during this coming week. Then it’s a date with the wrench for a day or two at the bike spa, and it will be ready for summer time fun!

don't take this wrong..but is it possible your wife's real problem is not lack of power, but lack of right wrist skill? my wife has a lot of time, miles and experience riding trikes and has a 2020 stock CVO Tri Glide, no complaints, no issues with keeping up, etc. .. I've ridden it too and it gets up and goes just fine imo...have friends with a CVO and 114 tri glides and same deal, no complaints or issues getting on it....but if she'd be happier with more power to not have to assert or exert her efforts as much to make it more enjoyable then that's the solution for her.....point I'm trying to make is fully consider her riding style before throwing a bunch of money into tearing into the engine and perhaps comprising reliability with introducing change like that..just a thought

The more I read and research, I think the 22XE cam is just about the *perfect* cam for most riders. Tons of mid range, doesn't drop off at high RPM, etc..

Tri-Glide weighs an enourmous weight for these engines compared to 2 wheel baggers. It weighs in at 1300lbs.
It's 400lbs heavier than a fully decked out Road Glide Limited.
Plus Going Fast in a straight line on a highway isn't a skill concern on the street on bikes that don't need TC to keep the front on the road under full throttle.
The only way she's going to get more passing power out of a tri glide, no matter how good of a rider she is, is to upgrade the engine.

I know where she's coming from too. I full throttle my bike all the time. I ride hard and fast, practically motoGP style, and that SE8-447 Cam and tune just doesn't provide enough passing power for my comfort.
That's why I was looking at the cam most likely to give me the fastest acceleration possible for the exhaust I have, and I didn't care about jackshit much else.

If I want to get away from someone on the road, I want to GET THE **** AWAY FROM THEM as quick as possible.
And the only way she's going to do that on a 1300lb tri-glide with an engine designed for bikes that run 600~950lbs with 160~240lb riders, is significantly more power.
A Tri-Glide is carrying something equivalent to a 400lb fat guy on the back of it. There's no way around that, except to compensate with more engine performance.
And maybe a pully/Clutchbasket change.

thanks, but I'm already fully aware of weights, engines, power and how to ride all of them all over the place loaded down, whatever..my wife has logged well over 100,000 miles across this country on several trikes as well as others we know...they do just fine as is for the vast majority

What's comfortable for your wife isn't the same as what's comfortable for Phil's wife.
She wants more and It's not a GitGud skill issue.

Bunch guys told me the M8 softail was plenty fast enough, I disagreed. Stage2'd the bike, still dont have enough, here's hoping a 22XE is good enough.
I get where Phil's wife is coming from.
Wanting more power passing people and getting back into following distance is a very understandable reason, and I can only imagine its much worse for her because she's dealing with a 1300lb trike, rather than me dealing with a 700lb Fat Boy.

I never said that was the case..I just suggested to at least consider that she may not be utilizing all that it has to offer first before tearing into it and spending a lot of money, but if she will be happier with more power than that's the solution...just offered up an opinion and perspective from lots of experience .... a lot of people spend a lot of money on these machines and then again on performance modifications not realizing they're leaving power on the table they already paid for by not using their left foot and right hand ... enough said..good luck Phil

I mean sure but, you could have just asked her (through phil) "is she using 100% throttle all the time when passing and stuff like that?" instead of questioning her skill.
