2022 M8 sumping?
A few days ago, at 9200miles, bike was slightly low after pulling it out of its almost winter sleep, and I had to put 4oz into it.
Not exactly concerned about oil loss.
Now answer.
My 2014 2trfe uses some oil over the OIC, well less than half a quart, but does use some oil so toyotas aren't exactly immune. OP, my 2022 FLHT was down a bit before the first service as well. I just chalked it up to break in. The tech you talked to said it was down a quart, but that might just have been what was added. Mine came from dealer set at halfway point on the dipstick, and dropped to sightly above the fill level before the first service so I threw in some oil just to cover that. Was relatively steady at the 5k service, I didn't need to add anything in between.

I had my dealer do one of the early services, I think 5K. A thousand or so miles down the road I checked the oil and it was a quart low. A thousand miles, and using a quart?!?! I was displeased, but learned that Harley considers this "normal". Sheesh. Started carrying a quart in my tank bag.
Next service, they wheeled it out and declared it "ready to go." Before taking possession of the bike, I checked the dipstick. Not a drop on it. Not. A. Drop. I visited the service desk and unleashed a thermonuclear explosion. Long story short, the technician demonstrated that there was some oil in it, about 4 quarts, so it wasn't bare, but, see, he fills it up while it's on the lift, where the bike's level. So when I check it on the sidestand, now that the bike's leaning, it's showing low. So, no problem, right, we'll just add a quart and we're all friends and everything will be happy...
I guess it's too hard to count the difference between 4 and 5?
Bastards.
Guess how much oil my bike has "used" in the last 30,000 miles? Not a drop. Gotta check what goes in and what comes out to know if it's actually using anything, and if you're not changing your own oil, you gotta check to see if the "certified technician" actually bothered to even fill it.
