For the same or less money a 128 kit will blow away your 114 with head work and give you more power everywhere. They don’t even recommend head work on the 10.75 to 1 128 kit.

I was talking with my local indy and he has Baisley HP in Portland do some of his work.
He said Baisley told him the M8 doesn't need much in the way of headwork, the 8 valve heads already flow quite well.
Unless you're building a full on race engine it's not really of much benefit .
That's coming from one of the top cylinder head guys in the world.

The question is when do you stop? At some point in a search for more you have to decided whey enough is enough.
I needed a little more with the large sidecar. Not that I could have lived with doing nothing. But I want a bit more torque at lower RPM's.

Did the stage 1 and 2 at that same time. Without the extra cost and hassles of doing any head work it delivered exactly what was expected. A simple quest for a bit more does not have to turn into a major project or expense.

Kind of like a minor scratch turning in to a complete paint job.

why use a stick of dynamite when an M80 will do! we have seen our expert pros here talk people out of larger injectors, tb / intake manifolds, heads, etc. many many times..not just additional expense, but point of diminishing returns as well as actually become a liability..often times less is more

My question is, I have done a good amount of research, and it seems like almost no body upgrades heads before going to a big bore kit/increasing displacement and I don't understand why. Even a stock head that can get ported and polished would increase flow and in theory would then increase your power. More air, more fuel, more power. Anyone have any insight into this? I am sure there is a point where more power means you are ultimately going to need to increase displacement, but I'm trying to get everything I can out of my 114.
The stock head already flows more air than your 114” with a cam can use.

A bolt in cam still needs head work if you want to be cool. Bunch of pretenders!

I want to take advantage of all my parts combined, with bigger injectors bigger throttle body and intake and a better flowing air cleaner and get the most out of the cam. When reading the flow charts of the most common ported heads, wouldn't you think to start matching that to the flow rates of your intake set up? get the most out of it as you can. Now I understand these heads flow a lot better than the previous, but there is always room for improvement. I am having an engine builder contact me this week to discuss this, I will update everyone with what we come up with.

Have you thought about a Trask turbo kit and a single stage nitrous setup too?
