Star 30/30 cam install. Now bogs/stalls on takeoff. Tuning issue?
Had a Harley dealer do a stage 2. I knew some things would change but the bike will bog/stall if I don't blip the throttle before taking off. I'm unable to roll on the throttle and enter the friction zone at the same time. I have to blip the throttle first then roll on it. The bike either bog hard and I have to pull in the clutch and blip the throttle or it will stall. If I don't want to blip the throttle I have to roll on the throttle till about 1600-1800 rpm them enter the friction zone. Anything under 1500 and it'll buck and jerk the second I enter the friction zone. It makes turning from a stop a pita. It almost seems like the throttle is delayed as well. After about 2k rpm she comes to life.
If anyone else has a star 30/30. Is this common and I should just stop being a ***** or is it a tuning issue? I have a lowrider 114.
Did they give you the dyno results? What does the chart look like? I've got a Star 30 30 installed in my LRST, it doesn't stall. My dealer had a hard time tuning it, and they had a base map from Fuel Moto. Take it back and ask them to check it, see if they can put their most experienced tech on it.
Obviously a dealer screw up, most likely by a poorly trained, unsupervised tech. Seems like he didn't even test ride the bike after install to check for any issues. Probably didn't load the correct map either.
This is an example of why I came to hate Harley service. Charge top dollar for inferior work. No way the bike should have been given back to the owner in the described condition.
I had a similar issue when my local dealer didn't load the correct map on my Stage 2. I no longer do business with those losers and found a great local Indy instead.
I would definitely have a conversation with whoever is masquerading as the service manager.

No I didn't get the results. They had a file from another bike with the same setup as mine and they loaded it on and it was good. They said my exhaust didn't have the bungs for a wide band so they couldn't dyno tune it. However when I got it home I looked at my exhaust and it does have it. It's a tbr 2 to 1. My bungs have an adapter that fits the narrow bands that you can take out to fit widebands. IDK why they didn't notice that.
do you have any issues taking off from a stop That's different when the bike was stock?
I think imma just take it up there again cuz they charged me 300$ for a power vision license and an extra hour to load a tune.
The whole experience has been underwhelming. They called me yesterday and told me my bike is gtg. It go up there and they were like "we didn't dyno your bike due to your exhaust, instead we loaded a employees map he has one his lowrider because he's running a 30/30 cam as well". They should have told me that during the phone call.
They need to load a tune for your setup and not a tune that worked on an employees bike unless his bike has the exact same setup as yours and even then it still might not be an accurate tune. There should be no bog, mine runs great. You could go to Dynojet's website and see if you can get a tune for your setup and see if it does better. Really a dyno tune is the best route, but I didn't dyno mine, it runs great with the Fuel Moto tune that I got when I purchased my Power Vision from them, plus I did a few autotune sessions, which you unfortunately cannot do because you don't have the Power Vision device. I'd call the Service Manager and tell him something isn't right, I'm sure they will take it back in and get it to run better. Once you get that cam dialed in you will love it, it's a beast! It sound's great, too.
