Default Lifter replacement @ 60000

Replaced the current Johnson Hylifts with new Hylifts that have the pin oiler. Used a vacuum pump to purge air. Tested the lifters. Installed. One thing I did because I hated fiddling with the lower O ring was to roll it over the ridge at the bottom of the pushrod. Original lifter cuffs were fine.

curious, were they starting to make some noise or was this strictly a PM update? those sure seem to be very highly recommended by so many here for being trustworthy

The ones in it were getting a little rattly but mainly as a PM. Has a mild cam in it.. The ones that came out looked excellent..

Nice! You've inspired me to do the same here soon. I'm running a set of Woods Directionals that have 60K on them which are also making a little noise.

I’ve discovered a new found interest in this topic since having catastrophic engine damage this year due to lifter failure at -20 k miles.

Max, was that 60K on that set of lifters, or was that engine mileage?

I replaced the OEM lifters in my `19 FLHT and my `22 Tri Glide as soon as the warranty expired.

I used the standard Hy Lifts on the FLHT, the Tri Glide got the pin oiler units.

With stock cam, what mileage would be a reasonable service life for these lifters?

More accurately the mileage was 58000. I bought the bike new, AC, cam, pushrods and tuner added at dealer 1000 mile service then I replaced the lifters with Hylifts at 2000 miles. The dealer left the OEM lifters in place while changing the cam and used adjustable pushrods to install the cams.. Made it easy to swap them out tho lifter cuff and tappet cover bolts were a bitch.

Is the noise you were getting, gone now with replacement lifter?

and what are the benefit claims / expectations going with the "new Hylifts that have the pin oiler" compared to the previous versions, longer service life, quieter....?
