Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
This summer I'll be insuring my 96 fxd in Fl,I'm new to this State, what reasonable coverage I should buy? I don't want to overspend, but also want to be covered.
Whether you live in Florida or anywhere else always get at least 3 quotes .. have gone from Geico to Progressive and now just added on to Allstates policy for all my vehicles.. Insurance does not reward loyalty ... after 3 years accident and ticket free with Geico and Progressive both they raised the rates on me the 3rd year thinking I wouldn't bitch about it .. Wrong!!
N o sush thing as a good rate from person to person. Only from company to company. Shop around.
Also, you need to take into seriour consideration what your net value is worth. If you own a home, a business, a couple kids, etc you need to get HIGH limits to cover your assets. If you just own a bike and rent an apartment or something, you can go less.
Feel free to IM me with any specific questions.
PS - You get what you pay for. Pay an extra $10 a month and get a few $100k more in coverage to cover you against liability to others. It's worth it.
PPS - Moving to FL? Prepare to pay out the A$$ for any insurance usually. Get multiple quotes, as the guy above said.
Actually never thought the Rates for Insurance were that bad in FL 400-500 a year full coverage including 20K medical so can ride without a helmet if choose to do so...Although 10K is all thats required to ride without a Helmet was just a few bucks more to increase the medical to 20K

$220 a year for me, but I will admit I only have 10K medical, but carrying higher liability limits.
220 a year with full coverage is pretty good although didn't state what year your Bike is.. Mine is for an 08 Electra with Gap Coverage .. In otherwords have it insured for 20K so can replace it without losing anything... Otherwise would end up with about 13K if was totaled
