Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
had it for almost a year,no claims, only problem is they dont offer medical coverage for operator. Have a 06 SG n a 06 yamaha roadstar insured through them, less than 300.00 a year
Forgot to add that I have been with them for over 2 years and that they offer some good discounts like multi bike discount and continuing customer discount.
They were great till I got a ticket for failure to use a turn signal 2pts. Raised rates by about 25%.
I took the point reduction course and they still held it on my Insurance record for 3 years.
Rider seems to be the least expensive but it is not the best! Yes they will insure you but as soon as you get a ticket or involved in an accident... no matter who's at fault.... up the policy goes!!!
I've had it probably 30 years. back then insurance was $150 for Rider, I think I got a quote of $600 elsewhere ($450 savings). Now my rider policy is like $600 a year, Allstate wants over $1,200 ($600 savings). So on average I saved $525 a year for like 30 years. roughly $15,750 saved. So even if their full coverage doesn't cover what it claims I figure I'm still ahead of the game.
I saw a Rider tent at Gettysburg bikeweek a few years ago and the girl there asked me what I thought of their insurance. I told her "I don't know", because I never put in a claim with them yet. Then I told her to ask me what I think If I ever have to put a claim in. I told the girl she should be happy as hell with me as a customer, 30 years of paying Rider and all they had to do on their end was print out insurance cards for me and cash my payment checks. sweet deal for THEM.
I've been with GEICO for over 15 years for our cages and the bike and I pay $150 for a full year of coverage, I keep mine insured year round because I ride every month of the year. I've never, ever had an accident or ticket so I don't know what their reaction to that would be. My full coverage limits are 100,000/300,000, un/under uninsured protection, medical payments, roadside assistance (not yet used). We only pay $1100/ year for both cages (my full size pick up and the wife's S10 Blazer) and the 09 FLHTC with the same full coverage policy. For giggles I sometimes call other insurers just to get their dander up by trying to get them to beat the rates I pay No-one has come close yet to beating them.
Its a machinery. So, should make it's insurance. But rider's insurance is more important than ride. Because there can be accident while riding and rider can be injured to make that expenses recover, rider should make an insurance.
Hey Rider is good - but only if you have a squeaky clean record. I've been reading a few articles about them - lots of info on http://www.MotorcycleInsurance.org . Hope that helps mate
