Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
Wondering if anyone has had any personal experience, or heard good or bad about them. I had my cars with AIG and my bike with Progressive as AIG didn't do motorcycles. Now that Farmers bought out AIG I was gonna call for a quote.
I've heard very good things about progressive, but I expect to save a significant amount if I can get on my plan with multiple cars with farmers. Wondering if the service will go along with the savings.
EDIT: I'm an idiot and missed the thread about this several threads down. Sorry about that.
My personal experience is that Farmers sucks big time. Same with all their associate firms. They'll cut price and make life miserable thereafter. Infinity sucks just as bad. Allstate prety bad also. Good ones are State Farm, USAA, AAA. I've had no experience with Progressive so can't help you there. Good luck.
For a cheap bike that you just want covered that you don't ride often they'll write you a base policy for $55/yr. Not bad if it's a build or work in progress that will not be on the road very often. Can switch over to a better provider once you're on the road more often.
Nobody on a bike should be riding without a LARGE uninsured/underinsured insurance coverage in their policy. When you buy liability policy you are insuring everyone else out there that you may injure with your bike---not likely to happen. The crappy insurance companies don't tell you to add uninsured/underinsured coverage to protect you and your familiy from great loss when the cagers who are drunk, uninsured, have minimum insurance or are just plain negligent cream you, through no fault of your own. The cost for um/um is little when you realize that you are buying insurance for damage to you by anyone else on the road, drunk, old, texting or just plain stupid.

Before making this decision one should evaluate their coverage under their medical plan. Uninsured/underinsured motorists pays for the medical care of your injuries and possibly pain/suffering, if the other guy has no or inadequate coverage. If your family or individual major medical insurance covers this, then uninsured/underinsured coverage is redundant.
