Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
I currently have my bike insured with Markel Insurance, and have had them for the last two plus years. They are great, and have great rates. I don't have the greatest driving record, and I only pay about $125 a year. I was referred to them by a family friend and have referred a couple of my buddies to them, one of which ended up saving almost $400 a year! Couldn't really pass on any claims info, I haven't had one yet (knock on wood). Wish I had the phone number, but I didn't bring my insurance card to Afghanistan with me.

I have been with them for 10 years, maybe a year or two longer, now. They are the company that handles insurance for Polaris. I have never put in a claim, never had any problems with them taking my money!
I recently joined the American Quarter Horse Association to qualify for the $500 discount on a Ford purchase. Yesterday I learned the AQHA has some sort of affiliation with Markel and there is a benefit of membership. If/when I get a bike I will pursue that to see what benefit it will offer. It might be worth looking into for those of you insuring with Markel. It might more than pay for the AQHA membership.
I ran a quote and Markel is about 20% less expensive than Progressive for me. Can anyone tell me something about their claims service? Thanks in advance
Currently insured with Geico rates reasonable. Prior to Geico was insured with Dairyland and I was considering doing the 103 kit up from 96. I called Dairyland to inquire into additional premium (they would never know if I did not tell them) as I was curious, was told that any engine modifications claim would be denied regardless of fault. I dropped them 2 days later. Have to be very careful with the insurance companies.
