I'd expect no more than $3k out of it if you push. The market is flooded with tons of old Sportsters, which unfortunately drives prices way down. Not a good sellers market for bikes. I can find several 2004+ Sportsters for your asking price in my area right now. And I'm sure I wouldn't have to pay that much.
For reference, I paid about what you're asking for my 2002 with several accessories I wanted and stage 1 already done, 6 years ago...

It depends on if you need the money I guess. I don't need three grand, that's why I don't sell my 05 Sportster 883. If I did, Id end up buying another Sportster.
I think $3,500 is a pipe dream, but if someone offers close to that, take the money and run.
Get rid of the trashed-black handlebar pic. It looks abused.
Good luck.
As stated earlier it's not a sellers market and definitely not a Sportster sellers market. I am not bashing, just stating fact. I can buy Sportsters for $2K to $2.5K all day long but couldn't sell them for $3k, but I can find Dyna's for $3000 that need a little help and maybe $500 out of pocket, that are then worth a legit $5k. So I don't buy Sporty's. The people who are telling you it is too low are Sportster owners.
Depends on how much you need the money and is what you need it for worth it.
