So I posted this in touring, but figured might get more info here. So I live in Chicago the bike has a lein from Hd credit, he's in Olympia, Washington. My idea is to have bike taken in for inspection, he sends me notarized bill of sale. He adds me as authorized user on his account we change the adress to mine, and I wire transfer it. It never leaves dealer and federal picks it up. What do u think? Thanks.
I'd check into escrow services like PayPal or others. That's what they are there for. And I'm sure if you dig into their rules, you'd find there's protection for both you and the seller.
I had my local HD dealer do all the work as the buyer was using HD finance.
I took the bike in for pre sale inspection, buyer got finance with HD and the local dealer shipped the bike to him. I got my $$$ from HD in less than a week.
very simple, no need for any wire transfers or escro services as HD dealer/finance is involved.
Thanks, went great bike was inspected at dealer and gets picked up tomorrow or Thursday. Transaction went smooth after much hand wringing by me, I was probably overly cautious, but it paid off. I got the bike I wanted at amazing price, will post pics when she arrives. Thanks for words of wisdom.
