As others have said, bring cold weather gear. We rode it a few years ago in July. There were 8 to 10 foot snow drifts on top. Beautiful ride lots of curves. Brother rode it last year and said the road has been redone so it was in good shape then.

&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Its a great ride don't miss it. Mrs and I&nbsp\\;left Cody took Chief Joseph Hwy to Red Lodge. Like others said be prepared for weather and&nbsp\\;as you get&nbsp\\;to higher elevation watch for&nbsp\\;ALL types of wildlife, we had a marmet run in front of us out of a culvert, glad he was quick cause&nbsp\\;I had no time to react. Also&nbsp\\;great micro brewery just don't stay two long.

It is doable.&nbsp\\; I would suggest that you go to Red Lodge via BTP and then go from Red Lodge to Cody via 72 and 120.&nbsp\\; From Cody you can take 296 (Chief Joseph Trail) back to 212 and Yellowstone.&nbsp\\; This is a don't miss ride.&nbsp\\; If you have to cut something else short to do this you won't be sorry.

My son and I recently rode the Beartooth pass (back in June). I'm ready to go again! I also HIGHLY suggest riding the Chief Joseph Highway to Cody.

Here are a some pix...

Be very aware of loose gravel on the roadway, especially on the curves. Easier going up than down.
Going back through Wyoming on the Chief Joseph is the best way to return. Weather tends to change for the worse around 3:00 PM in the mountains.
Will probably be at the Beartooth Rally for the Saturday poker run.

The biggest mistake I made in planning my Beartooth run was to not allow enough time.&nbsp\\; It's not the typical scenic ride where you motor through at 50 mph!

By the way, there are some great videos of the run on You Tube...just do a search on "Beartooth"

Beartooth&nbsp\\;Pass is one ride you have to take on a Harley if you are in the area, and the Chief Joseph Highway is another excellent ride.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; You may want to allow a little more time depending when you are going to be in the area next week. The weekend of July 18th through the 20th is the Beartooth rally in Red Lodge, so there will be alot of bikes on the pass which does slow things down a bit.&nbsp\\; People start showing up on Wednesday and Thursday of that week for the rally.
&nbsp\\;
Have a safe trip.....

Trip was in August, first week if I recall.&nbsp\\; Had a group of about 17 Heritage Springers gathered up in Red Lodge.&nbsp\\; Took off one morning and rode the Beartooth, lunch in Cooke City, then took the Chief Joseph highway on the way back.&nbsp\\; A very nice ride!!!
