As stated above, try to do Beartooth Pass from the northeast park entrance to Redlodge. I think it's hwy 212? I've done it twice now, and it's great. 10,947 ft elevation.
Have fun!

Just got back from yellowstone on Aug. 30. Truly an amazing place. Take your time and soak it up. Weather was nice but take your cool weather gear for sure.Rutting season is just beginning so beware of elk and deer. Buffalo were everywhere. Ditto on the pics. Happy motoring.

Not sure how you're going, but had road construction by Cooke City. Webcams look like it's still going on. Solid dirt, so not bad, until the water truck went by! Was there the first part of August.

Just got back. If you make it to jackson, go to the gunbarrel steakhouse. Great food. Also, if you stay in the park, I would stay at the Canyon lodge. From there, you could do the whole park in one long day or two easy days. Your ride south to Tetons will take at least half a day, so you might want to think about staying in Jackson. Also rode the Bear tooth and it was cold and sleeting at 11,000 feet. Bring long underwear. Chief Joseph into Cody is awesome. Best tip, stay an extra day or two. I took over 300 pix. Enjoy.

Be sure to secure all picnic baskets. There are some sneaky bears up there!
