I guess it is never to early to start a Sturgis 2013 thread. Me and my brother are planning our first trip to Sturgis this year and wanted to get some info any good web sites to visit to book room or camping spots. Recommended places to stay around the Sturgis area? Any places to stay away from?
Been going the last 12 years, and always camp. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you want wild and rowdy, you can camp at the Buffalo Chip or Glencoe. If you want a quieter end to your evening, then there are some great campgrounds between Sturgis and Rapid City that are more laid back, and they are inexpensive. Check out Teachout's Back 40. If you are looking for hotel/motel, you are going to pay for it, if you can even find one available anywhere close, but may get lucky in Rapid City.
Well I finally made my reservations and plan on staying at the Bavarian Inn in Custer SD. I wanted to tour the surrounding area (Blackhill) as well as hang out in Sturgis. Has anyone stayed at the Bavarian Inn before?
Unfortunately I cannot make it to Sturgis this year despite my best planning. That's bad for me but good for you because I've good a dbl queen non-smoking room booked in Keystone which I'm going to have to sell (they don't offer refunds). August 4,5,6,7. What I paid is what you pay, I'm not marking it up just because we're closer to Sturgis time--that's lame. The hotel info can be found at http://www.whitehouseresort.com/. Send me a PM or an email.
This will be our first trip and really looking forward to it. Staying at the Spearfish KOA. Leaving Houston on the 2nd and taking the Colorado route. Want to be able to enjoy the scenery during the trip.
