Haven't stayed there during the Rally but it's clean and well kept up. Also on a fairly steep hillside if that matters to you. The Deadwood trolley stops regularly. I'd stay there again.

I checked it out on line....does look steep.....I'll be dragging my 5th wheel further out into the boonies....buddy of mine out there in Rapid City says all the parks are pretty full this time of year.....but I'm gonna just go and hit the places like Pactola first to see if they have a spot big enough for my trailer.....KOAs and those places....just too many people for me.....

I'm moving to the Hills in a couple years and looking forward to spending time on Pactola, That's some beautiful country out there.
So the plan is a coworker and I are leaving central PA on Monday morning. Stopping at the AMA hall of fame in Ohio then the National Motorcycle Museum in Iowa. We will be camping along the way with the last night camping in the Bad Lands. Plan to do roughly 550 miles per day. We should arrive in Sturgis on Thursday morning.
Chip is a great place to stay and party but really it's pretty tame as far as wildness goes. Spent 10 days there both 2010 and 2011. My wife is not the wild party type and she had a great time both years. Nudity was at a minimum. Nothing like the smaller biker parties I attend. The Chip values their liquor license highly and is very strict when it comes to clothing. Nothing better than being able to party hard at great concerts every night and simply take a short walk back to camp without worrying about getting a DUI.

Downtown Sturgis on Lazelle and Main Street, and everything in between. Crossroads at the Chip and the outlying towns like Deadwood, Hill City, Keystone, and Rapid City Harley Davidson. I'd spend an afternoon walking Sturgis for starters.
And it was a beautiful day to ride the black hills today...perfect.
