Last time I went to Lumberton inspection station, I had a Kawa Ninja with zoomie pipes. They checked turn signals, headlight and brake light and reflective stickers on helmet. That one passed. My '07 isn't due until 2010.
Thats good to hear. I guess I will get some baffles and give it a go at the state place.
Reflective stickers on the helmet? Since when did that become a requirement and if so, where is it posted? Is it in the state 's License book? (I didnt find it)
New Jersey Helmet Law - P.L. 39:3-76.7:
No person shall operate or ride upon a motorcycle unless he wears a securely fitted protective helmet of a size proper for that person and of a type approved by the federal DOT. Such a helmet must be equipped with either a neck or chin strap and be reflectorized on both side
What I did was to put scotch tape on the back of the reflective tape. Dont peel the backing off the reflective tape. After the inspection was done I took off the reflective tape. Cant even see were the scotch tape was. Works great.
if any of myfellow brothershaveeyes good enough to catch an overdue inspection on a motorcycle (note" a 1" by 1" sticker with 1/16" words on a 4" by 7" licnse plate) then its a reeeeeeeally boring day in paradise!
as far as the helmet requirement with the reflective tape, its been on the books a loooong time. i can remember goingto theinspection station as a kid with my fathermore than20 years ago and making sure we had reflective tape on our helmets! again...if ANY of my fellow brothers bother you about reflective tape...
I went to Kosco to have my inspection done a few years ago and same thing, never even started the bike. Just checked insurance and my turn signals. I think I paid $24. I just moved to PA and have to get it inspected. I was told to go to this local mechanic because he's the only one that does inspections for motorcycles in the area. Its seems most DMV crap in PA is private. I had to go to a private dealer to register my bike, car and trailer, costa shitload too....
Hell, I bought my bike at Kosco and only live 2 miles away. I know where I'll be getting inspection done.
Reflective stickers on back and sides, slip in baffles and eye protection. You pull up to the end of the line here in Cape May County and shut it off and wait for the state dufus. License reg, ins card. Low beam, hi beam, left and right turn, brake light. Then ya gotta test the front brake by pushing with the brake on so the front dives. Damn republic of Jersey
When I went through in November they never checked my helmet which was good because I didn't have any tape on it. Also never even started my bike.Don't know if it was because it was a new bike inspection or not. I'm good for 4 years. By then I would imagine the tree huggers and noise police will have them checking for EPA stickers on pipes so the slipons will be coming off.
