Litchfield, Fairfield, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia Counties
Headed out through Litchfield county yesterday afternoon, crossing into NY just south of Patterson. Ended up cruising a good ways up the Taconic Parkway, stopping for lunch at one of the best-preserved old diners in the Northeast, the West Taghkanic Diner. It also has just about the coolest neon sign you're ever going to see, although it wasn't lit in the middle of the afternoon yesterday. It's right at the junction of the Taconic and Route 82. I've eaten there a few times in the past, breakfast and lunch, and the food is decent - humble homestyle diner food.
Cut across to Hillsdale and then down one of my favorite stretches of road anywhere, Route 22 between Hillsdale and Millerton. It's wide and smooth, with lots of gentle curves and tremendous scenery. There's a relatively new Mexican cafe with a bunch of outdoor tables on the corner of 22 and 44 in Millerton that looks interesting. Anybody been there yet?

Well, I answered my own question. I stopped there for a late lunch today, and it was great. Salsa Fresca is the name of the place. Seriously, it was the best burrito I've had in recent memory and it was only $6. So if you're cruising anywhere near Millerton it's worth the stop.
I live in Dutchess county right off Rte 22, my wife and I rode by that place a few weeks ago on the way back from a ride into Mass, we saw it and wondered if it was any good, thanks for the review we will have to try it. We also have been to the West Taghkanic Diner, cool sign the food was good, and the roads are great for some hard riding through the rolling hill.
