I don't live down there, but I know the area. (Outside sales rep) If you're looking to find people for rides, and who know the roads, there are 2 dealers near you, where you might be able to find people. One is Hannum's. Take 202 south & turn right onto 1 north, and it's right there, on the right. Can't remember the name of the other one, but it's right on route 100 north, (also on the right side of 100) up about a mile or 2 north of the turnpike. Hope it helps.
I live just outside the University on the west side of town. Be glad to help in any way I can.
Geezr- that other dealer is Smaltz's HD. Also if you go north about 20 minutes on Rt. 1 from Hannums in Chadds Ford you will get to their other dealer in Media.
There is also a good indie in town that I use.
I live in York (about an hour and twenty minutes away) but know that area. There is a lot of good riding in all directions within the proximity. Anything above the turnpike west of Valley Forge and in to Lancaster County would be a good place to start and you'll want to check out the Union Hotel in Port Deposit, MD on a Sunday afternoon. Delmarva Bike Weekend in Ocean City, MD is September 15th - 18th and the following weekend is open house at the HD plant in York with a nice parade downtown on Friday night. They are currently finishing up a major restructuring of the assembly plant with state-of-the-art process.
I am also in West Chester (I live on campus). I was searching the forums to see if anyone from this area had any shops they could recommend for maintenance/inspection? I was thinking of going to West Chester Cycle (near the Giant) because it seems that the dealerships around here like to say things are wrong on bikes that shouldn't be (according to reviews online). Any suggestions?
