Heading to OC first week in August for vacation, looking for some riding ideas for a day trip away from the beach.

if youre riding down take RT9 around Middletown, Smyrna, and Dover. WAYYYY better scenery!

I would say take a ride down towards Chincoteague.

Head over to the Red Eyes Dock Bar on the Chesapeake, great destination and nice ride.

Thanks. I am looking for rides once I'm there, been going to OC for the past 20 years, this will be the first on the bike. Will have to check out Red Eyes.

Bayside roads to Chincoteague then back by way of the Pocomoke forest is a nice day trip.

If you plan on going to Red Eyes on Sun. watch the traffic, especially if its a nice day. If you leave Red Eyes and head East on Rt 50 back towards OC, its not bad. If you are planning on heading west on Rt 50 towards, Annapolis, it can be terrible. Stop and go for miles, all the way to Rt 301 in Bowie.
If you are not in a hurry and can hang around Red Eyes, till 8 or 9 p.m. the traffic will start to clear up.

Rt 9 is ok, but I wouldn't call it scenic.
