Maybe not but it still sounds like a lot of money just for gas. Damn these gas prices.
Hmmm...OK so I'm starting to think about this. What do you think the average price of gas was? Granted the Appalachian mountains probably tore up gas mileage and these things aren't very aerodynamic so high MPH is a killer, but are we talking sub 30 MPG?
DC to Sturgis you dont have to do app mountains at all unless you want to. We did it in 11. We did northern route on way out while is 70 up to 90 then 90 across to SD. Way back we dropped down and did the dragon and BRP/Skyline home (me on my sporty which is now gone since I traded for a deluxe hubby on his RK). I dont know what gas was. Given hotels on the way to stugis and back plus sturgis itself was way more so gas seemed to least of our worries and we had double the cost given we have two bikes.
