Default breather problems

Hi Guys,
I have a 1980 flt. I have had oil blowing out the breather for a long time. I have done the checkball trick, changer the springs but on startup I still get loads of oil.
Question: If I plumb the breather hose back to the oil tank, it should dump the oil back into the tank. Then I plumb out or the top of the tank a new breather, for the pressure to escape. Am I nuts or could this be a fix?

im not sure that will sounds good but i dont think you could do this??? maybe with some one-way valves in teh hoses it could be pulled off but i think yer going to create some sort of vacum or pressure issues. hopfully someone knows more than me!!! on my 01 sporty i ran the breather hose down like if it where to drip and leak on the ground but then used a brass tee at the bottom and threaded the leg going down to put a little bolt and o-ring on. then of the other leg ran a hose up under the seat with a breather filter on it. this creates an low spot for the oil to go. then when i got to where i was going i just pulled the bolt out and whiles its hot the oil drips on the ground. then when its time to leave i would start and let it warm up like normal with the bolt still out so it would blow all the other **** out and then screw it back in and go about your ride. of course i didnt let it drip in my garage but everywhere else like peeps cars do. its kinda a pain but not really and it solved the prob of oil all over the bike and you. even on my 05 dyna i have a puk bottle. its an small alum. flash light gutted and the hose goes in where the light was and then around the bell that you turn to widen or narrow the beam i drilled a bunch of 1/8" holes. so the breather hose goes in and it can breath out the holes and with the baco of the flash light being able to come of do to puttin batteries in this makes it easy to take that bottom off and pull the little peice of paper towel out and replace it. the towel helps soak up the oil and i have to change it ever month or so but put a 100miles a day on 4 days a week so thats why its so often. anyway ive said enuf and theses fixes worked for me so i hope they do for you. if you want pics i can email them to ya just pm me.

No you can't route the breather into the tank...itwill pressurize the tank, the engine won't be able to breath and you will be blowing white smoke out the tail pipes. You have a problem in the breather gear and port, or in the scavaging side of the oil pump. Question is this: Is it pumping oil out all the time and how much, is it only on start up and how much, is it only after the bike has sat for a day or two and again how much. With this information I will have a better idea what the problem is.
