I just read on another post in the "Primary/Transmission/Driveline" forum that some individuals have had an issue with a leak developing between the primary case and the tranny case. A lot of individuals posted "me to" posts who were using Redline. They thought there was some connection between Redline and that seal. I've had Redline Heavy in my tranny for about 4,000 miles with no issues... has anyone using Redline experienced this? Or are these guys fishing for a connection?
This comes up from time to time and here is what the expert consensus seems to be. The sealwas a weak spot on our engines. The fact the redline is red, makes the leak more obvious and identifies its presence and where it is coming from. with other lubes, it often goes farther before diagnosis or even notice. The redline is NOT the cause of the leak.
No leaks.................yet But I can see why the shockproof heavy would leak being that it's so thin. It's what 75w250? That **** takes a half hour to pour out of the bottle.....
I was was one of the "mee too's" but I'm not linking the two together.
I have had the Heavy Shockproof in for a little over 5K miles. Its a fact of life that some seals will develop leaks with dino oils or syn. IT's the seal or shaft that is the cause.
That may be my post your referring to and I in no way tried to link the Shockproof as the cause of the leak. I have been running it for about 3k miles and I really like the feel it has given to the shifts, my gearbox is quiet, no problems finding neutral and all that stuff. As a matter of fact, if it's gonna' leak, having that pink goo visible at the area of the leak makes diagnosis that much easier. Now having said that, I am still trying to find out what seal is the culprit. It is not the main shifter shaft seal, it is further back and when viewing from underneath, it appears to be coming out of one of the eight screws that holds the cover case on. The screw closest to the primary case above the primary oil drain plug. Gonna' go run it again today and try and get a better look for other possible areas of the leak.
