How many of you guy's are using the FLOW oil filter system w/ the washable SS Filter Cartridge?
It looks very interesting, use it, wash it out w/ soap n water, dry it, & re-install & ur good to go!!! $107 on Amazon.
The Chinese version is about $60 +....
screens def give a warm and green fuzzy feeling, but
they also can lead to accelerated engine wear.
in the industrial environment we used amot filters and oil analysis. as time wears on so does the maintenance level as diff'l sensors def showed.
in the end, the mfg recommended filter performed better. but at 70 bucks a pop and there was 7 to a pot, money was an issue when you had many many engines.
a filter work by impaction and filters finer and finer as the media fills up. the screen filters at one set option according to hole size. that being the case, it will plug up quicker as time wears on and the great need for diff'l monitoring.
but they wanted to save money so the use of centrifuges and screens worked tag team.
all of this works better in a by-pass mode. if you are doing full flow, i would def add diff'l monitoring and more maintenance.
we changed oil on analysis so there could be thousands of hours on the oil.
Don’t have one, but have heard they work fine. Also heard the o-ring needs changing now and again. Off topic, I’ll be in Parsippany this weekend for a club event.
