Try the Redline Shockproof Heavy.....you will never go back. The real test is that initial shift into first gear when the bike is dead cold. Very little clunk from the Redline....all the other shifts are clicks not clunks.
I get the same results from HD Trans lube and M1 75W90. [8D]
I wish I could find the old stuff, I'm not real crazy about the Formula+.
the local HD shop doesn't even cary the 75w90 anymore. I may jst have to try the Redline stuff for the trip out to Billings in June. For now it is still cold enough here in Lwr.MI to run the + stuff.
I am going to make the switch to the Mobil 1 15w50 in the engine. . . .I ain't $pending $9 qt for the $yn3.......

I thought I read in the Owners Manual and Shop Manual that on a 06 bike it says must use the Formula + in the Primary. Is there a reason for this? Did they change the clutch with some other type of material. It doesn't even say to use Syn 3 in the Primary. I was using Mobile V-twin but just changed it out since reading this in the manuals.
Other then the Primary with Formula + its Redline heavy in the Transmission and Mobile V-TWIN in the motor. Love the way the transmision shifts with the Red Line heavy.

This is the combo that I think I will use, except that I am going to use the Mobil 1
15 w 50 in the engine. Now I jst need to find the 'Old' style semi-synthetic trans fluid.
Never had a problem with it, and I think the Formula is to skinny for the trans.... still may make the switch to the redline heavy. . . . . will it run 10k on a change ?
My concern would be older scoot vs newer..Newer type metals in new motors.Mine is a 92 with 56,000 miles. If it does not operate properly(clutch).,what would I use?.It has always had the "standard lube for all 3 holes( no synthetics)except for the HD synthetic tranny fluid .
My 2002 SERK had 66k on it and the only thing I ever used was good ole HD 'OIL'
NO Synthetic of any kind, and I NEVER had a problem one. One trip out to S.Utah, GC Tetons,YS NP, Idaho, Sturgis and home 6000+in 17 days, oil looked as good as new when I returned. from that point on I only changed the trany evry 10K and the OIL & Prim evry 5k.
I jst like the thought of the 15 w 50 for the cooler mornings here in the northern Latitudes, and I will prolly continue to change it the same way.
