I was talking to the dealership about going with Amsoil synthetic oil and he told me that I needed to go with Harley synthetic or take the risk of voiding the warrantee. It is my understanding that they cant legally void the warrantee if go with Amsoil but wanted to check and see if anyone has had any issues with H-D voiding their warrantees for using Amsoil synthetic and not Harley's synthetic?
Total BS on your dealers part. I actually bought amsoil from another dealer and took it in when I let them do the 10,000 mile service and they put it in without even questioning it. I normally don't let the dealer touch my bike but I had some warranty work being done at the time and was due for a fluid change. My dealer never balked at cams or any of the other BS that I am hearing about other dealers. I would take it some where else.

It sure is total BS.Amsoil was the Co that took Harley Davidson to court on this very issue and prevailed.Shortly after the ruling Harley Davidson started selling their own version of synthetic oil.

Simply not true. I don't use Amsoil products but all of their synthetic motorcycle oils and gear oils exceeed the API standards that Harley Davidson specifies in their owners manuals. Same goes with Mobil1 Vtwin. Redline oils are not API certified but way exceed the standards. I broke my bike in on Hd Syn3 though because my dealer included it with my free 1000 mile service. BTW, all of the mechanics at my dealer use Mobil1Vtwin.
