Default Thickest oil

What would be the thickest engine oil I can use in a 2005 Twin Cam with over 44K on it? I run mostly in high temp - desert areas.

Straight 60 wt is what the book calls for, for temps over 80 f. They make a straight 70 wt oil , but it's not recommended or spec'd for any modern motor I know of.,,

70 wt. is really hard to find now. I know Castrol, Kendall, and Valvoline still make it, but no one seems to stock it anymore. I mix it with gasoline to run in my old spark ign. model airplane engines from the 30's and 40's. When I can't find 70 wt., I use Harley 60 wt.. Harley use to make 70 wt HD360, but I have not seen any for several years.

Brad Penn makes "Nitro 70" a 70w oil. Not hard to get. But then 70w is way overkill.

I'd still use 20w50, it'll circulate through the engine faster and carry off more heat.

+1 I am in Ohio...but if I was in the SW I would use the redline 20w60.
