I have a 2008 fat bob with 11 k on it. It had one previous owner who bought a 7 yr transferable warranty for it. i had the warranty transferred successfully and have another 3 yrs left on it. previous owner gave me all paperwork on the proper servicing by dealership. If i change oil myself and use a different brand oil, will this void the warranty. Ive heard horror stories of Harleys with 10k on them completely stock and had major engine failure of some sort. i just want piece of mind knowing my bike will be covered if this happens.
Nope, just keep all of your receipts for the oil and filters. I keep a spreadsheet on my computer as well, it lists everything I've ever done with/to the bike, the date it was done on etc...
ok. cool. u never no about these companys these days with the crunch and all. id say a reputable company would cover it unless of course u added nitrous or a blower on the bike. haha
i am having cams put in and pipes at hd the mechanics said they recommend the harley oil because of the way amsoil breaks down it is not good for harleys plus they said less trouble if you have to have warranty work done. I dont know if i believe that but for less trouble it will be worth it. That is my 2 cents for what it is worth.
Alot of gear heads say stay with only harley oil dont use amsoil in all 3 holes but as long as you have some kind liquid in one of your holes i think your good to go. I use amsoil from day one in all 3 .Is this good or not Ibelive its fine 20-50 I do know from 2 flhx i have owend the trany shifts better and lynwood and downtown haley said ti run it for smoother shifting .
There is no truth to any warranty being void because of the oil brand you use.
It is urban myth, internet fodder what ever you chose to call it.
Has never happen will never happen.
