i was planing on running ATF in my 89 primary,& was told to run type F but not dexron III but when i looked at the bottles marked ATF they said that they were made for dexron-mercon cars so can i use this stuff or just type F ???
Some clutch manufacturers may specify a certain type of ATF.
Type F ATF fluid is a non interchangeable spec.
If the manufacturer specifies type F, then there is no substitute, the container must say TYPE F. If you can`t find it at your local auto parts store, you can find it at the local Ford dealership.
If you aren`t required to use type f, you can use any type you want.
The easiest way to chose: use the same type as your car or truck uses.
