Default primary oil going into engine oil

I have a 1993 FLHS Electraglide Sport , I have replaced the main seal, but the old one seamed fine. I fill both engine and primary oils to their proper levels and when I check after 50 mile all the primary oil is in the engine oil. I have no leaks, is there some sort of vent that could some how couse this? The bike mechanics I talk to are miffed and say "that can't happed" but it is definitly happening.

I've heard of a crack in the case around the boss for the seal doing this. Not a very common happening.

This was a common problem with the case. I can remember swapping out bunch's of these. But funny how certain issue can be located in different areas of the country. The case is not leaking but the bearing race boss is . No real fix other than swapping out a case half. ANd the engine oil should go into primary as the engine is pressurized not the primary. But the bearing race leak issue is old problem really have not seen one in the last 5 years or so been awheil.

.....you got me thinking so I went in and had a look, turns out one of the little 1\4" screws that hold the stater wires in place had come out. I pushed a wire into the hole and incredibly it went clean through into the crank case.....why Harley would drill it that deep is beyond me. Anyway problem solved. Next time your in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island B.C. Canada......the beers are on me,Thanks

Glad you found the problem. Those evasive ones are really tough to find sometimes.

Well in the service manual they will tell you that the screws are one time usage, and when you get new one you will find that they have sealant on them, to prevent this problem. No no one ever removed these then it has been leaking since day one, other wise hd had a reason for this. I do resue them I just use a drop of blue and you are good to go. Anyways I am glad to hear you got it handled.
