Yeah I know a side trip... California HOG Rally at Fresno that weekend! You should be seeing a lot of bikes in the area! Should be fun. You can see Kings Canyon National Park too. Some of the roads are very twisty, which I like but some think are too twisty. The 41 is a much nicer ride than the 99 if you can get to it going south. Go down into Kings Canyon (35miles), it is worth it.
Let me tell you about the rain ,snow, sleet and the hail, don't leave out the hail on the way back down from Sequia, hurt like hell..... it snowed hard, I think they closed the area after our group left.... we all took pictures of our bikes covered in snow when we stopped atr the restaurant to eat.... nice cold cold did I mention cold ride....
had a nice group of people to ride with so still had a great time.....
Wife and I have some unexpected time this weekend and decided to take off for sequoia national park tomorrow morning.
Been looking at maps and seems that TRoute 99 going south to the park is the best bet, but we like to avoid major highways when we can.
Any route suggestions? "Must see" side trips or attractions?
Thanks,
arthur
Hey Arthur: How did your trip go? Did you do Sequoia or Kings? How was the weather? We were with Gene01 and got into the snow, hail, rain, cold, etc coming back from Grant Grove in Kings. Had a good time. First time to ride in snow. A little scarry, but no body in our group went down and we had a good time.
This was one of the times when it was really good to keep the shiney side up!!
