If there are any Oregon riders here this pertains to you.
There is currently a draft of a bill which will be heard in front of the Oregon Legislature this coming Jan (09). It is asking the state to provide standard issue motorcycle specific license plates.
This website (hopefully) explains a little bit about whats happening and how it works. www.oregonmotorcycleplates.com
We cant do it without the support of many so if you reside in Oregon, regardless of what you ride...or even if you ride...please take a minute to check out the site and sign up for the newsletter.
Thank you!
I see no need for "special plates". Just another "Cost" to the taxpayers as you know they will want to raise the extortion fee (taxes) to provide these "Special Plates" and then charge you again for them if you want to run them.
Hi Marble,
These arent special plates. This draft is for a graphic to be added to the current plates. They would be standard issue and not cost any more.
I agree, in order to produce a specialty plate funds would need to be appropriated first and then recouped as the plates sell. Not the case here.
And this is also not a request for group plates where the money needs to be collected up front.
We are just trying to add a new graphic to bike plates.
What do you mean by standard plate?
Are the plates the same size as those on cars?
This is what they do in England and the sight of a full size plate in the back of a scooter is ridiculous, especially a hard tail or Rocker...
Alright...
What I mean by 'standard' plates is that these would be the regular issue plates when you get your bike licensed. These are not extra plates you can order nor are these group plates.
As for additional costs that would not be the case. If this was going to be an alternative to the standard plates then yes, it would cost more, and that money would have to be raised before the plates could be produced..same with group plates.
As for opening a can of worms, that makes it sound like Im causing problems, which Im not.
And no, these would not be huge car plates, just the regular sized motorcycle plates we have now. And the yellow and blue would not change. There would just be the addition of a graphic.
