Hey there,
My wife (pictured above) and I were entertaining the prospect of heading to Sturgis in 2011. Would be our first time. My riding buddy can't make it and was wondering if anybody else was heading out there from the Northwest. Wasn't thrilled with the idea of riding out there alone, would love ride with some other folks. Let me know!

I rode out alone from NH this last year. I'm glad I did. You can make much better time by yourself/and passenger. My vacation time is limited. I like to get the ride out and back down to minimum. I had to stop in at the H-D dealership in Youngstown OH for an electrical short. One employee told me every weekend he hears a couple people grumbling about how the rest of their group keep wanting to stop and not ride, or just the oppisite. While staying at the campground I was talking to a few others who rode by themselves. I heard the best quote from one of them while we were talking on this subject. " You know,,, you meet more friends when you ride out here by yourself." Friends of course meaning new. Think about it... when you ride in a group, people tend to stay with in that group. I hope you have a great time regardless of how many people you go with!
Ride with others or ride by yourself... Just do it...Went last year for first time. Best time ever. Rode with one other cycle, met a third on the road. Bucket list cut down by one...
A group of 4-7 will be leaving from Reno either Fri 5 Aug or Sat 6 Aug. We plan on making it a two day trip making 600 miles a day. stopping at KOA going and coming back if your interested. We plan on staying at the chip

My Girlfriend and I are leaving the Portland area 8\5\11. Only going to stay in Sturgis a couple days, then riding back. Gonna camp.
Road there last year. Just the wife and I. Left the Sacramento area rode to twin falls, ID then to Yellowstone goofed in the park for the day. Road across Wyoming to Sturgis. Had a blast. I was a little leary of just the two of us but pack correctly and you will be fine. We had a blast. It was my 2nd trip first one we didn't trailer. Riding was far more fulfilling. Like others have said. Just do it.
Anyone headed to Sturgis from Alaska? I'm riding out of Anchorage the morning of July 27th. I'll stop in Canmore (Banff), Alberta for the Canmore Folk Festival (Carolyn Wonderland concert) on Aug. 1st., then Testy Festy at Rock Creek, MT., then to Sturgis by Aug. 8th. Following Sturgis I'll be at Rockin' The Rivers festival in Three Forks, MT. from Aug. 12th - 14th. At this point, I'm rydin south alone and will be camping out. Will be staying in a few motels as weather and grime permits. Good, drama free ryders for company would be fun. I ride medium fast. Was at Testy Festy and Sturgis last year. Message me if Ur interested in a ryding partner for all or part of the trip.
