2011 Laughlin River Run Countdown Thread !!!

I am surprised to hear so many people were disappointed. I am always glad to get away for a few days no matter the case.

I too was a little disappointed in the lack of vendors and parts and accessories. There were plenty of T-shirt vendors, like way to many but a lack of others. We did have a great time overall but the wind was just horrible. The other issue I had was we were staying at the Aquarius Hotel and that I guess is the hotel of choice for several motorcycle gangs or clubs which I will not name those of you that were there know and that caused several issues one of which was that Friday evening we came back from walking around and the bar/beer garden out front was gone and there were cops and a swat team everywhere. Then on Saturday night we came back and again there were cops everywhere and we could not get into our hotel, they actually made us paying customers staying in the hotel stand in line and show our ID's and room keys before letting us in the room which took almost an hour. There story was the hotel was at capacity which was total bulls**t because when we did get in there were not many people in the hotel. The vendors in front of the hotel pretty much also buttoned everything up as well. So we still do not know what was going on but again cops and security everywhere. This is not how you treat the majority of people and customers who are just out to get away and have a good time. They need to deal with the groups causing the issues. Or I guess I just wish these groups could just grow the hell up and act like men and let everyone just have a good time. Would I go back in the future, yes but I would never and I repeat never stay at the Aquarius hotel again period, you just do not treat people like that. At least not the average person and I will be spending sometime writing the hotel and city. Ok my rant is over, flame on
for me this year was quite different than last couple years, but similar in many ways to other trips.
i was talking to a buddy about how we were expecting a completely different weekend but also about the fun and good riding we DID have. we agreed that you need to make the most of and be open to whatever happens, and not plan or expect something specific.

It's not the Vendors that make the rally, it's us. It's not the bike shows with the pro bike builders, it's our bikes that I like to see. It's getting together with thousands of like minded (motorcycle) individuals. Making new friends. Meeting old one's. The ride out, the ride back. I ,for one, had a great time. Oh, and I got some pretty cool t-shirts
I was disappointed in the lack of parts vendors also but it didn't ruin the ride or the weekend. Honestly didn't go to buy stuff anyway.
Besides; all my quality time was either spent on my ride on the road or on my other ride in the hotel room

Had a great time! The ride out was awesome, as was the ride home! Lots of fun. Yea, there were some things that may have put a damper on the River Run, but overall it was a great time. Already looking forward to going next year!

I enjoyed my self, was disappointed in the amount of vendors and lack of options. But I enjoyed seeing all the bikes in town, I had to work so I didn't get to participate in any runs, but the wind was terrible anyways. But overall I still had a good time. Not sure if I will make it next year, may be moving to San Antonio soon for a job.
I had a great time. The ride out was epic as was the ride home. Friday's weather was awesome for riding but unfortunately my group was a little to """"TIRED"""" to ride so we headed over to Bullhead City. That's where there was a major problem. It seems that Bullhead City PD would only like to pull over bikes from California. I got pulled over as did my other buddies. Noticed that EVERYONE they were pulling over was from California. I have 16" apes that are well below my shoulders as were my buddies. Whne they pulled me over the first thing the officer says is "do you know the laws in Arizona"? I said I did and asked him politely why he pulled me over. His response was "this is a safety check". A "safety check"??? I replied. "So check away" I said. He first asked if I'd been drinking and I replied all night and day long. WTF??? It's Laughlin. Just joking, I said I hadn't (guilt of admission). He then asked about my bars. I said they were legal in Arizona, Nevada and California. As he was kinda ripping me I asked him what the protocol was with these stops and he stated "It's a California Arizona thing". Didn't know how to take that but whatever I thought. As we were rapping this up I noticed other Bullhead PD officers pulling over more California riders. I guess he wasn't kidding. The next morning my wife wanted to go to O'Learys in Bullhead for breakfast and a Bloody Mary. I obliged her as any good man would and long and behold I noticed the same shenanigans going on again. What a joke!!!!!!!! Here we are bringing commerce to this town and this is how they treat us visitors. Personally I'm done with the River Run. I really enjoy the commeraderie of my fellow bikers but between the Police and the outrageous rates for rooms and all the influx of the MC's B.S. I'm done!!!!!!!! BTW I was at the Aquarius when all that sh*t was going down there as well. Next year I'm going to Stagecoach. (That's what I say now)
I also thought there was a lack of vendors. I was done walking all the casinos and in the bar by 1pm. All the motorcycles I saw pulled over had Ape Hangers. Just because you are in the middle of nowhere on a deserted highway does not mean there are no cops out hiding! The cop that flipped a u turn and followed me and my buddy late Friday night for a few miles, Thanks for nothing. Would I go back? YES. Did I have a good time YES even if it was for 1 1/2 days. Az riding is very nice!
