Bend down 97 to Klamath Falls down through Adin to Susanville 395 to Reno. The only part that isn't a nice ride is the 85 miles from Susanville to Reno and that's because there is a lot of traffic and it's a 2 lane road but still kind of pretty, but the ride from Bend to K falls is awesome then you go out through Tule Lake and the lava beds and when you get to the "T" you can go left into Alturas and down to 395 or you can go right and go down through the little town of Adin( and there is a great little burger joint in Adin) and down along Eagle Lake and into Susanville. Ride Safe

Go thru Bend to LaPine. Hang a left on 31 just south of LaPine and follow that thru Lakeview to Susanville. Hang a left just before you get to Susanville towards Reno. It is well marked.
Don't forget your Mardi Gras beads for Virginia City. They will come in handy.

+1 on this ride.

Avoid just hauling 395 S directly, there is a long lull in the ride. Eagle lake area is pretty amazing. If you can swing through Butte meadows is a really quiet area that has a lot to offer as well. It's a bit out of the way though.
