I removed some parts this morning to get a better look at the issue of the radiator hose being so close to the header. It doesn't look like I can push the hose further onto the radiator unless I cut back the hose.
Since the hose has a one-time-use ear clamp I'm not taking it off now. I had planned to pull the hose off but now I have to secure another clamp first.
If anyone here has removed this hose before:
1. How much fluid did you lose?
2. Has anyone cut the hose back a quarter inch or more to allow the hose to be pushed further onto the radiator?
I thought I had this issue solved with heat reflective tape but noticed after a several hundred miles the tape seemed to be de-laminating or getting damaged in some way closest to the pipe. So I don't want to have to replace the tape on a regular basis.
If nothing else, hope these pictures give everyone a good idea of what the situation is with this hose on the Pan America.
I know nothing about a Pan am and just clicked on this outta curiosity.
Just an observation is if you cut the hose to go farther on the radiator.
You may also move the crossover part of the hose real close or against core of the radiator..
That's probably better than the exhaust pipe if not rubbing the hose or the radiator fins to much
Is the exhaust header pipe original to bike? Hard to believe Harley engineered it that way.
Yes, the is the factory head pipe and factory radiator hose. Some were delivered with the hose much closer and the hose failed. Mines to close for comfort and I look at it after every ride.
I'm hoping someone makes a silicone hose set for the PA, it can handle a lot more heat than rubber hoses can. I also will replace all the one time clamps with some made in the USA hose clamps.

Will the Mother Corp have issues with that when it comes to warranty issues?
I don't think so, It would have no effect on emissions and the parts provide the same function. They would have to be able to prove the different material hoses caused the failure.
PS but then again I'm the guy who buys genuine harley antifreeze , just to avoid any warranty argument.
