Well it finally happened. From the usual hard starts here and there, morphing into consecutive hard starts until finally now just tonight? My bike hard started into oblivion. The starter isn't even trying to spin anything now.
I'm going to put it on the charger until the battery is full, maybe it just needs juice?
Or maybe after all of this time the starter was slowly self-destructing The way my fuel pump was.
That sucks, I had to replace my battery to resolve a similar issue. The original battery voltage would drop so low when starting that it would shut off the ECM.
similar issue w/ my '07 a while ago.
Battery seemed plenty strong. 12+ VDC when measured, meter at above 14 when running.
Started to give slow, difficult starts. very intermittently.
Bike sat for about a week w/o the tender connected, and it wouldn't start at all.
Connected my charger and let it charge.
Measured above 12VDC again, so I tried to start it and it was real weak.
Watched the meter while trying to start it and I saw the voltage drop to like 5 volts.
Let the charger sit on it and was able to start it, then rode directly to the shop for a new battery.
Hasn't happened again since.

Yep, all my symptoms are pointing to this as well. Did the warranty cover your battery?

Really wish a tech or HD in general would have connected the dots to a shitty battery for these starting issues I was having instead of telling me it was a model wide known issue with no 100% fix yet
Unless I'm being too hopeful and I'll have whining starts again even with a new battery
