Default Attention all DYI garage mechanics!

I have a 2021 Special and I am my own ESP. I have installed accessories, created my own wiring harnesses, completed routine maintenance, changed my fuel pump, etc. I am planning to coat my fuel tank and install a new 2025 updated fuel pump assembly when it is available this summer. The one thing I cannot do is flush my brakes and reset the service light. In order to do that we need access to the CAN network.

I read a post in the PA FaceBook group where one owner claimed the OBDSTAR iScan for H-D is capable of doing the deed. I have corresponded with the seller on eBay and they claim it exercises the ABS Module and can reset the service light on the RevMax family of H-D's. So, I am in the process of buying one and will let you all know the results.

As justification for the cost I paid $450 for the first flush 2 years ago. Guess what? Yup, it is due this year again. So, one flush and this device is paid for if it works as intended.

When I get it I will try it out to make sure all the needed functions are covered and I will update this post accordingly! The wait MAY be over!

I was told the flush costs sub $200. $450 seems way high, i'd call around.

Curious why you need to coat the tank, and what you are doing with the harness?

I bought the scanner for TCs, ready to do my second one this summer. For me tricky part was getting the think to talk and clicking on the right stuff.

I plan to coat the inside of the tank and then install the new 2025 fuel pump module to hopefully cure the fuel pump whine. The 2024 tanks are coated and HD is releasing a new fuel pump module in Jun of 2025 so I am mimicking HD's fix for my 2021.

The harness I built taps into the accessory connector under the seat. It provides keyed power for my aux lights, my GPS, a USB connection on the handlebars, and power to my trunk so I can charge things while riding.

I had a network tool for my Ultra Limited and speed bleeders in the calipers for taking care of business with that vintage HD. I also had a network tool and speed bleeders on my BMW's. If this works for the PA it will be getting speed bleeders as well!

The device has arrived as of today (24-Mar). I will try to get an initial look/configure it in the evening this week but I am coaching through Wednesday and out of town until Monday so I may not get to it until next week. But, stay tuned as an operational update will be coming soon!

Results Phase 1: this device does not read the bus of the Pan America. I have a note in to the seller who before buying it assured me that the Pan America is compatible. The software level is the latest available but the network communication fails.

This is disappointing. The compatibility list has the RA1250s specifically on it but the device does not connect. We'll see what the seller has to say about it as there may be something that can be updated. Until then, no, this is not a compatible network connecion.
