.Oil is a religion. No reason or logic required for most people
IDC what you( use .(as i already explained)
I was using 20-50 oil B4 HD ever said it was OK and that was back in the 1970s when Penz oil first came out with it,
Nothing has blown up yet.
It just a better oil..(not necessarily Penx oil)
If you want to discuss it, I think there is a page on this forum just for oil and oil wars.
You ck the oil hot .
Engine off so you don't get tattooed.

Im normally a car guy, bikes are a new thing to me since I know own his. Just looking for advice/suggestions. Im planning to do a full tune up on it, since I have no idea of any history on the bike for tune ups go.

I've ridden dirt bikes, and quads before. I'm familiar with riding, just not on the street or on a bike like my dads. Thank you for the advice and I can assure you, I'm already taking a riding class to get my M1 on my license. I will not become a statistic. :O)
Street riding- Everyone is trying to kill you, not just the dirt.

I know there are a hundred answers, but for me I use Brad Penn 60wt in Flathead and Shovelhead:
"The Penn Grade 1 SAE 60 is suitable for use in gas, alcohol and nitro methane fuelled engines where this viscosity is desired. The high viscosity of this oil allows excessive dumping of fuel into the lubrication fluid while maintaining critical protection for expensive, high performance racing engines and their components. The SAE 60 is suited for the heavier viscosity lubrication needs of the early classic motorcycles and engines like Harley Davidson Flathead, Knucklehead, Pan head, Shovelhead and others."
I buy it by the case on Amazon, not found locally.
while I have been hearing about aircraft since the 60s in a Harley / indian - motorcycles don't fly and really don't run at one rpm most of the time, plus the temp changes from the ground to 5000 feet is huge - aircraft oil is designed to flow at cold temps better then motorcycle oil so use what ever you think works - in my shop we see the results of - hold my beer and watch this
Anything in the aviation world AD on dwn, takes a mountain of paperwork, and a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That is why we still see engines with the technology from the 1930 and 1940s still being overhauled..
It is so dang hard to get anything approved.
It is more EZ to leave it alone.
It does not mean it is better.
