I've looked at a lot of 'em. Most '64's I've seen have this sharp-top closed 4 with no serif at bottom (see attachment). This disagrees with Palmer's so-call "bible". Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
panheadache...looked at three different sets of cases (48,49, 56) that had a "4' in them. All were opentop fours with the serif on the bottom.
rodent...to add a little more - its 640 pages softcover book that covers 37-47 knuck, 48-64 pan, 37-52 45 solo and 37-63 servi-car. Who knows, maybe if therz enuf tweenkies aroundover the same amount of time, someone will write a manual on restoration of them. But from what I can see it looks like planned obsolescence.

Thanks for the reply. I hear ya', but I have still seen 3 of those sharp top 4's on '64's only - one I know is a one owner bike direct from the factory. I was just wondering if there was a one year only font for the 4. By the way, my '64 pan has the open top 4. Thanks again.
