Is this head slavageable?
Overall it is in good condition for its age Has one broken fin but all thread holes appear to be fine, exhaust flange is fair, plumber style intake is good.
it still has the beryllium copper valve seats and they ported them - probably with out a mask < bad idea he died already anyway - then they left it with only one valve angle maybe its 46 degrees - intake racing you can get away with that - not street driving -- but the exhaust is ground flat to one single angle < he failed in life smarts and breathing the same guy
the head gasket surface has been ground all the way to the inserts that are normally sunk in .050 at least
the sparkplug thread was replaced with a real big insert - its not the first time repairing that
fins are shabby in more then one spot and the broken fin just shows he was a jackass at best the guy who broke it > reason the one above it has an upward bend to it he almost got both of them - you cant fix stupid move
4 threads for the tin top look weak but I am not holding it - screw a allen bolt into it and see how loose the threads are back and forth - my guess most are very loose
that 1949 head has been driven and worked to death like lots of calif vehicle stuff is
