Just came across these bags on CL. Look to me to be late Pan, early shovel era based on the latches.
He's asking $50.00 for the pair including brackets but no pics of what the "brackets" are. I'm thinking I could more than likely get them for less.
It will be about a 100 mile round trip to pick them up.
Thanks.
My '89 Ultra had that style latch, one needs to be sure to latch properly as the lid comes completely off and can blow off going down the road, ask me how I know. lol

In a lot of cases its the gasket thats shot that makes the lid fit loosely. Drill a hole through the tongue of the hinge and put a small clevis pin through there to keep the lid from flying off. My 67 had the POs name and phone number on the underside of the lid so it obviously happened to him before.

Mine didn't fit loose but I failed to latch it properly once and it flew off, fortunately I saw it in the mirror so I didn't lose it and it only sustained minor paint damage.
Surpised he is stating they are aftermarket. Can't get those suitcases latches anymore and I do not think anyone makes other than the later Shovelhead style. Wish he was closer. i'd definitely jump on them. Clean them up and flip them for an easy $200.

Kind of a PITA when youre running errands etc. but I just got in the habit of locking the bags all the time. Those suitcase locks are kind of cheesy and the vibration can cause them to open when theyre unlocked.
