Primary Oiling System
Looks like the previous owner took care of the difference on the left connector pipe. As I recall it was roughly 1-1/2 to 2 inches longer. It's needed to align the mufflers on both sides. The crossover pipe pushes the left muffler out farther.
The cross over pipe you have is for the early Shovel models and works because there is no mousetrap. You're gonna need that cut out section to clear the rod. Don't have a pic of the dual with the mouse trap but herz a factory pic of the mousetrap and the rod
Herz a pic from my '65 rebuild (still in progress) of the rod and the cross over pipe. The rod just fits under the pipe. Without the cut out that rod will bend as you pull in the clutch lever to engage the mousetrap. I am running a tank shift but the principle is the same and was the same when I had the mousetrap on it
Iv'e never run a sealed primary on any Pan or Shovel I've owned. Lotta folks swear by the idea tho. I would imagine to seal it proper you need to make sure that the mating surfaces for the inner and outer are perfectly flat, a good gasket and the correct clutch plates

WD40 in the cylinders and kicked it through with the plugs out.. Pulled the clutch in and it still licks through so it appears stuck..
Hooked up a battery, ran the starter for a while, checked the compression and it's 120 rear and 115 front.
It has spark, oil pressure light went out..
I don't want to put gas in the tank or carb until I have a chance to go through them but I loaded up a squirt can with gas and squirted some in the intake. Motor fired off and ran on one cylinder. Pulled the plugs and cleaned them with brake clean and it runs on both cylinders. Real high idle.. It blew a bunch of crap out of the pipes. The gen light goes out.. This bike may not be in that bad of shape.
Need to fix the brakes and rebuild the fuel system..
the angle of the mouse rod is correct as in over. The dual exhaust pipe not installed -but for some reason the rod disappears across the white boot but you can still see the lever end at the front of the oil tank

Anyone got a similar pic of a foot shift?
