Anyway, in process of setting the timing I followed the manual for setting the timing. When I do so, the static timing (0 rpm) is like 5 degrees after TDC. I'm not sure this is kosher.. Seems to be part of the reason why the bike can be a little finicky starting cold. I know that when you set the timing statically full advance by twisting the points cam the timing will be a little retarded but I'd expect not to be that far off.. Am I wrong?
What should the timing curve be? Say 5 adv deg while cranking?
Anyone know what the specs are for timing advance? The manual says full advance at 1500 to 2000. Idle speed. 750? So go from 5 deg to 35 in 750 to 1250 rpm? All previous were start the bike, and advance the timing..
We do it this way with the line in the center of the hole front piston is at max advance - test light on the points and rotate the distributor cam lobe full rotate the distributor to it lights on the point arm or coil but coil is a thing to watch
