Default generator conversion

I haved installed a mini alternator in place of a standard genny,,,heres the problem....there is no way too shim the alternator. I have wat too much backlash on the idler gear and the alternator gear,,,,,very loud & makes me worry...has anyone run one of these set ups? I have spent today tryin to get some adjustment outa the cases and cam cover......no dice.....the only other thought is to redrill the holes on the alternator base.....lots of meat for new holes ,,,,,,,,just a little tricky with out a mill and such.....ant info would be great .

Default RE: generator conversion

still gonna be noisey.
I was planning on putting one on my 52 years ago , but was told how noisey they are. ended up with cycle electrics w/ built in reg.
very happy with it for years.
