Question Excessive chain oiling

I have a 51 FL. After running about a 1/2 hour oil just gushes out of the chain oiler. It has a stock cast iron knucle type pump. The oil screw is adjusted all the way in. I cleaned the bypass valve. Ball type-looks fine. Correct spring. Called J&P tech assistance & was told I could seal it(the tube) without problems. I turned the engine to line up the key to install the gear. Noticed oil coming out the engine shaft. Read more about the bypass has to breath. Now I am going to reopen it or is it safe to leave it closed. I read the oil coming out is ok & normal as long as it is not excessive In fact removed the drip tube & it was the same. However I noticed when turning the engine air blows out. Would keeping it blocked cause a problem as maybe the air needs to escape?
Not sure what to do next. Would adjusting my bypass valve in help. Could I run a hose & tee it into my oil cooler hose? Run it back into the tank? Could I have the wrong breather valve? A horrid shop screwed my bike up awhile ago & I had a lot of repairing to do. Might have switched it? Or buy a Sifton pump from V-Twin? They are $200 & say either for belt(no oiling) or chain. I have a belt setup. Would this stop the drip leak? This seems to be the last problem keeping me from riding. Money is very tight so I don't want to buy anything I don't have to. Am leaning towards the Sifton pump. Any info will help. Im waiting for an answer from V-Twin tech assist on the SiFton.

These motors breath into the primary (normal ) The bike when new had a 90 degree fitting off the tube that comes from the bottom end This lubed the chain (primary ) You cannot close this breather off I run a belt primary on my 52 pan/shovel and my 46 knuck I do not like the oil on my belt so I re routed a 3/8 hose off the bottom end breather hose I drilled a 3/4 in hole about 4 in behind the orig breather hole in the inner prim The breather hose now runs up the back of the inner primary to a vent style filter Confussed call me 608-847-4240 You really can't stop the oil drip unless you install a catch type canister Make sure your breather gear is timed properly Good luck

I already did the hose through the inner primary. The problem is way too much oil comes out. I would have no oil if I drove far. Timing breather gear- doesn't it have a mark that is lined up when all the other gears are lined up. You would verify that with the gear cover off. I could check that again.
Am leaning toward the Sifton pump. Supposedly you can shut the drip off.

Check the oil pump drive gear Key could be sheared Do you have oil returning to the oil tank ? I run a clear braided hose on mine so I can see oil returning at all times and yes the breather gear should have a alignment mark In fact check all the keys on the oil pump drive shaft

I became enlightened today. I am dealing with several problems. The pump works ok. But I have excessive drip loss of oil. I need to recover it. I cannot close the dripper as it allows air to escape & prevents bypass air pressure. I need to run an oil line from the dripper into the tank at the top & install a vent(in the tank) for the resulting air pressure. Theory. Now to implement. Correct parts, installation etc. Forgot idea of a Sifton pump as I realized I would have to change all my existing hardware oil lines into the pump & who knows what else surprises. This is what I will do next. I will post on the results. My dream of riding again may come true. It has been down a long time & I have gotten old.
